Barry Roscoe Packard passed away at his home on Monday, November 17, 2020, at the age of 80 years old. Barry was born and raised in Midland, Michigan to the late Philip and Dorothy Packard. He graduated from Midland Public Schools and then earned his Associate Degree in Landscape Management from Michigan State University. Barry is a Veteran of the United States Army serving most of his 3 years in Germany.
Barry married his beloved wife, Carolyn Irons in 1966 and celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on July 30. He was employed by Lights Landscaping, Woodbridge Hills Development and Mulders Landscape Supply. Barry retired in 2000. His hobbies were traveling, camping, tending to his flower gardens and Michigan State and Detroit sports.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife, Carolyn Packard; son, Brad Packard; daughter-in-law, Missy Packard; brother, Jerry (Peg) Packard; sister, Linda (Karl) Sterling and many nieces and nephews.
On Friday, August 6, 2021 his family welcomes you to attend the rendering of his military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Please arrive at the cemetery procession lane 15 minutes early. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 PM at the Portage United Church of Christ, 2731 W Milham Ave, Portage MI 49024.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to Portage United Church of Christ or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
