Barbara Sauer, age 82, passed away Friday morning at the home of her son, Steve (Howard Tejchma) Kuntzman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Viola (King) Wells; brother, LeRoy (Lillie) Schard; grandparents, Allen & Elsie King (who raised her); husband, Richard Sauer; son, Wayne (Debbie) Kuntzman; and step-daughter Kathy (Larry) Payton.

She is survived by her sister, Vivian (Paul) Black; son, Steve Kuntzman and spouse Howard Tejchma; stepsons, James (Lucinda) Sauer and Edwin (Laura) Sauer; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Barb and her husband Richard owned a horse farm in Hamilton, OH until 1983 when they moved to Hawkinsville, GA. They winter trained their horses there and then raced in OH, IL, and PA until Richards death. Barb then went to work for Sciota Downs Racetrack and the Delaware, OH "Little Brown Jug" as Race Program Director. Later she became the research Coordinator of Columbus Ohio Children's Hospital from which she retired in 2003.

After retirement she traveled extensively and moved to Kalamazoo MI to be closer to her family and then began to volunteer her time.

Barbara was cremated at Langeland Family Cremation Center. A memorial service to celebrate Barb's life will be held at First Congregational Church of Kalamazoo later this year.
