Barbara J. (Hudson) Blackmun

Barbara June Blackmun, age 72, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 with her loved ones by her side. She was born September 12, 1947 in Kalamazoo, Mi a daughter of Alan and Sylvia (Holcomb) Hudson and had been a lifelong area resident.

Barbara started her family at a young age and gave them a wonderful upbringing. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with family and loved ones. She would go out of her way to help those in need and those she loved.

She was a dedicated employee for the Kalamazoo Gazette, as well as a business owner. She owned and operated her own adult foster care, she was the local hair stylist, and the owner of Riverside Bait and Tackle for many years.

She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren, and loved to go to the casino with her son, friends, and grand kids as often as possible.

Barbara could be called upon any time day or night for a ride, a trip to a fast food joint, or just to talk to for hours on end. She was the most dependable person, and you could always count on her for a smile or laugh.

She will forever be missed by the ones who loved and cared for her. A true example of a selfless person.

On September 28, 1963, Barbara married Larry L. Blackmun who preceded her in death on May 18, 1999. Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents and four siblings. She is survived by three sons, Lance (Sharon) Blackmun, Brian (Klaudette) Blackmun and Christopher Blackmun; eight grandchildren, Britny, Blake, Klaira, Christopher, Jr., Lash, Braily, Tristan and Drake; four great-grandchildren, Charlie, Lucy, Camden and Benjamin; three siblings, Dorothy Wolverton, Henry Hudson and Goldie Harrison; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 20th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 6121 King Hwy, Kalamazoo, MI 49048. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 21st at 1 p.m. in Comstock Cemetery and a reception will follow at the Galesburg City Hall, 200 E. Michigan Ave, Galesburg MI 49053.
