Albert E. Buck

Albert passed away Monday evening, January 10, 2022 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Battle Creek. He was born November 28th, 1928 in Highland Park, MI, the son of Paul and Ruth (Sharp) Buck. He grew up in the Detroit area, graduating from Redford High School.

Al was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman responsible for transmitting and receiving radio signals aboard an aircraft. He attended Wayne State University and Western Michigan University. Al started his career at Eaton Corporation in Kalamazoo as a tool designer, progressing to Manager of Tool Design and Quality Assurance Manager, retiring after 42 years. Al was a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Savior in Parchment and served on numerous committees. He especially enjoyed delivering the Sunday morning children's sermon. For many years Al was involved with the SHHH organization (an organization for the hard of hearing) having served as the President of the Michigan SHHH chapter. Active in scouting with his three sons, he enjoyed making soap box derby cars, camping, and merit badge work. He enjoyed archery, crafting his own arrows, woodworking, bowling, swimming and workouts at the Borgess Fitness Center. He loved playing games, especially cribbage with his grandchildren. In retirement Al and his wife, Berniece, traveled throughout the continental U.S., to Hawaii, Mexico, Germany and Scandinavia.

On June 7, 1952 Al was united in marriage to his loving wife, Berniece (Pringle) with whom he shared 69 remarkable years. Surviving Al are his children: David (Linda) of Kalamazoo; Ronald (Robin) of Appleton, WI; and daughter-in-law Debbie Buck-Monroe (Cal); his grandchildren: Jessica (Josh); Heather (Jason); Michael (Michelle); and Kara (Kevin); great-grandchildren: Evangeline, Fletcher and Claire; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife Berniece on September 9th, 2021; his son, Timothy and his grandson, Ryan; brothers and sisters: Paul Buck, Sue Hickcox, Sally Nippa and Bruce Buck.


The family genuinely thanks Mike and Dawn who were wonderful and caring neighbors. The family also thanks Lakeview Assisted Living for their exceptional care in the final months of Al's life.

Due to COVID a private family service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Savior in Parchment. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
