Yvonne Bell (Haas) Kreamalmeyer

Yvonne Bell Kreamalmeyer, age 95, of Portage passed away peacefully at her home on November 6, 2023. She was born December 23, 1927, in her grandparents' home in Flowerfield, Michigan, the daughter of the late Nelson and Ruth Haas.

Yvonne graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1946. Soon after, she met her future husband, William Kreamalmeyer, when he came to her family home to purchase eggs. They were married on June 27, 1947 and shared 70 years together before his passing on August 4, 2017. Aside from the first three years of their marriage, Yvonne lived on the same street her entire life.

Yvonne worked at Kalamazoo Stationery until her children were born and then became a full-time stay-at-home Mom. She did try her hand as a school bus driver, but that only lasted a year. She loved to garden, especially with her husband Bill, enjoyed canning the garden harvest, and was known to be a great cook. She was a loving, quiet, and caring person—she cherished the time she spent with her relatives.

Yvonne was a longtime member of Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church and loved her church family, special church lady friends, and neighbor friends.

Yvonne is survived by her son, Neil Kreamalmeyer; daughter, Vickie Kreamalmeyer; grandchildren, Tyler Kreamalmeyer and Betsy Wright; great-grandchildren, Hope Wright, Michael Wright, and Faith (Garret) Tefft; sister, Joan Doxey of Texas; sister-in-law, Kay Haas; and her special nieces and nephews: Paul, Ross, Jon, Ellen, Jodee, Nelson, and Hank.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Kreamalmeyer; sister, Elaine Haas; and brother, John Haas.

The family extends a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice staff, especially JoAn and Joni, for the care they provided during this time.

A graveside memorial service will be announced later and held in April of 2024 once the daffodils bloom.
