William Glen Crane left this world far too early on April 8, 2023, with his wife by his side. Bill was born January 9, 1960 to Ormand and Francis (Bennett) Crane, the youngest of four. He graduated from Parchment High School, and was a proud Eagle Scout. Bill served four years as a surveyor in the U.S. Army before beginning an illustrious manufacturing career at Checker Cab Co, followed by an astounding 25 years at Fort James/James River/Georgia Pacific/Dixie, before retiring from Benteler Automotive.
He loved nature, music, reading, and most of all his family. He worked hard and sacrificed throughout his life to provide the best he could for his girls, putting their needs before his own at every opportunity. He was a man of few words and many stories, with a sharp wit; the kind of man who built his own home, and protected duck nests on his 40-acre property.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ormand Crane and Dick Crane. He is survived by his wife Karen (Fry) Crane; his daughters Amber Crane, Amanda Juarez, Katie (Dominick) Lombardo, and Cathy Crane; his grandsons Vinnie Juarez and Sal Lombardo; and a new granddaughter Rosie Willa Lombardo, who brought him much comfort in his final days. He is also survived by his brother Don (JoAnne) Crane; sister Janet (Rick) Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was greatly loved for 63 years, and will be greatly missed even longer.
Per his wishes, cremation will take place and a private memorial will be held at a later date.
