Victoria L. (Claflin) Buytendorp

Passed away Thursday afternoon, September 7, 2023 at Borgess Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born February 10, 1952 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Ken and Barbara (Bullard) Claflin.

Victoria worked at Bronson and Borgess Hospital in physical therapy for 30 years. She took great pride in her position, always giving her patients the utmost care and attention. After retiring, she became a dog groomer for her love of animals. Throughout 52 years of marriage, Victoria traveled to 48 states in the USA with her husband Terry and children Eric and Kelle. Victoria looked for adventures that included sightseeing, traveling in the family motorhome, camping, visiting zoos and cruises. Her favorite locations were Mexico and the Caribbean where she would watch beautiful sunsets.

Victoria enjoyed spending time in her yard planting flowers and being in the sunshine. After moving from Richland, MI to the family cottage of 25 years on Austin Lake, she continued devoting her time with her husband designing and remodeling the landscape and house to create a loving home. Victoria loved being around the water and enjoyed the nature around her.

Victoria was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She cherished relationships with loved ones. She is loved and will be missed but never forgotten. On May 14, 1971 Victoria was united in marriage to her loving husband, Terry Buytendorp, who survives. She is also survived by her children, Eric (Erin) Buytendorp, Kelle Buytendorp; 2 grandchildren, Luke and Mason; sisters, Deborah McMann, and twin, Valerie (Charles) Riddle. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am on Thursday, September 21 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009 where a memorial service will be held at 11:00am. A light reception will follow the service in the Langeland Family Center. Private interment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South.
