Vesta M. Scharer

SCHARER, Mrs. Vesta M. Mattawan, MI Passed away Monday evening November 13, 2006 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Vesta was born August 2, 1912 in Kalamazoo, Michigan the daughter of Milo and Mary Rogers Hurd. She was also a lifelong member of the O.E.S. Corinthian Chapter #123. Vesta was united in marriage to Robert F. Scharer on September 6, 1930, he preceded her in death on August 6, 1968. She was also preceded by a daughter, Louise Awe in 1984, a son, Richard in 1960, and a brother, Clarence Hurd. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Donald Lewis of Mattawan; a son, Robert J. Scharer of Jackson, MI; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a sister-in-law, Genevieve Hurd of Portage; 3 nephews; and 2 nieces. Private graveside services will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pretty Lake Vacation Camp, 9123 West Q.
