Todd Steven Powers

Todd Steven Powers passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the age of 54 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kalamazoo to Sandra Drake and the late James Powers, on March 25, 1970. Todd graduated from Portage Central High School in 1988, where he excelled in football, wrestling, and baseball. He started his working career with AVB as a trim carpenter, which he was very good at. From there he went on to work for Borgess Hospital as a radiology assistant, and then for a short time, worked at Bronson Hospital before returning back to Borgess as a radiology associate for the remainder of his career until his diagnosis of esophageal and sinus cancer in 2021. Todd was a tremendous fighter and underwent treatment twice. He was originally given 6 months to a year to live, and he made it 3 years. Todd was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor, which made him love to play pranks on his loved ones. He truly enjoyed making people laugh and feel good. He loved doing things with his family, his hobbies were his children’s hobbies, and Sundays were always considered “family days”, ever since he was a child. Todd was also kindhearted and was always doing random acts of kindness to brighten people’s days. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend who loved his family fiercely.

On August 27, 1994, Todd married the love of his life, Judy Dunn, at First Reformed Church in Portage. Their love story has spanned nearly 30 years of marriage and two wonderful children.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Powers; two children, Cole and Leslie Powers; mother, Sandra (AJ) Alleshouse; sister, Julie (Gary) Jensen; father-in-law, Lee (Cheryl) Dunn; step father-in-law, Richard Conklin; sister-in-law, Melissa Dunn; brothers-in-law, Jameson (Jill) Dunn, and Matthew (Madison) Conklin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Todd was preceded in death by his father, James Powers; grandparents, Arden and Grace Powers, Frank Drake; aunt, Darlene Terpstra; and uncle, David Drake.

The family will greet friends on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E Centre Ave., Portage, MI 49002 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 11:00 am at First Reformed Church, 7905 S Westnedge Ave., Portage, MI 49002.
