Timothy L. Vargo

Timothy “Tim” Lee Vargo, age 67, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away at home on Sunday, April 7, 2024. 

Tim was born on February 7, 1957, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Shirley (Retherford) Collins. He graduated from Plainwell High School with the class of 1975. Tim furthered his education at KVCC, earning an equivalent of an associate degree in pre-nursing. He was accepted into nursing school, a testament to his academic potential. 

Tim's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He found solace in attending the Stones church with his mother, reading the bible, and other devotional readings. Jesus became the center of his life. His faith in Jesus transformed him into a better person, a loving family man, and a friend. This is the legacy he wished to leave behind. He wanted his family to know he was at peace with Jesus and encouraged them to continue their lives, assuring them that he would watch over them from Heaven as their Angel. 

Tim's love for his family was profound, and he took immense pride in their strong bond. He often fondly recalled the moments they spent together, underscoring the significance of family in his life. Tim never missed his Sunday phone calls with his children and family.

He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and U of M football. 

Tim is survived by his mother, Shirley (Retherford) Collins, children: Jenifer Crago, Kimberly (Jake) Bower, Tiffany (Matt) Smith, and Travis (Brittany) Vargo; grandchildren, Austin Hammond, Taylor Schuesler, Ella Bower, Emery Bower, Kensley Vargo, Sadie Smith, Karter Vargo, Rylee Vargo, Emma Vargo, and Sunny Smith. Tim is also survived by his siblings, Vicky Vargo and Mike Collins, nieces, Kristy and Danielle, nephew, Bradley, great-nephew, Harper, and great-nieces, Scarlet and Finley. 
 

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 12:30 - 2:00 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St. Kalamazoo, MI 49007, with a private, family only, graveside service to follow
