Timothy Michael Peters

Kalamazoo

Formerly of Gobles, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1934 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late Harry and Barbara (Meachum) Peters. Tim was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School where he met Jackie (Jacqueline Phillips).  They were married on December 17, 1955.  Shortly after High School, Tim joined the Navy and served 4 years on the USS Wallace L. Lind.  After returning, he attended Tri State University and started his banking career as a Teller at 1st National Bank and Trust.  Tim retired after 38 years with 1st of America as bank President for the Michigan Bay Area Region.  During his career he was active in the community, serving as Mayor for the City of Gobles and is a lifetime member of the Paw Paw Elks Lodge #2511.  Tim stayed active in retirement sharing time with Jackie delivering Meals on Wheel for Kalamazoo Senior Services while continuing to pursue his love of golf working part-time at Heritage Glen Golf Course.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years and his parents.  Surviving are his children; Timothy II (Sandra) Peters and Ann (Vince Haag) Peters, grandchildren; Nicholas (Nikki) Peters and Ashley (Ted) Caulkins, as well as his great-grandchildren; Madeline and Michael Peters and Hazel and Harrison Caulkins; niece and nephews; Jane (Dan) Schuur, Tom (Sue) Brady, and Joe (Lien) Brady.

Cremation has taken place and to honor Timothy and his time in the military, a graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd Augusta, MI 49012, August 9th at 2:30 pm.
