Suzanne Elizabeth (Wisler) Hoover, 79, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away with her family around her on November 10, 2023. Sue was born May 14, 1944 daughter of Donald and Arvilla (Fahner) Wisler.  She graduated from Mancelona High School in 1962 and graduated from Central Michigan University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.

Suzanne married Robert Dale Hoover on December 20, 1969 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Mancelona, MI. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary together in 2019 with their immediate family.

Suzanne taught school for 32 ½ years, two years in Manistee Public Schools and the rest in Parchment Public Schools.  She enjoyed teaching all of her students.  She taught many different grades but spent most of her career in Third Grade. Suzanne had breast cancer in 1998 and after that went back to the Parchment School District where she taught until retiring in 2005.

Suzanne loved her family and her precious grandchildren. They spent many wonderful summers together at their cottage on Torch Lake. Suzanne enjoyed making crafts, going to craft shows and shopping. She enjoyed many fun winters in Madeira Beach, Florida with her husband Robert. A favorite quote from Suzanne to her husband Robert: “I journeyed to the rainbows end and found not gold but you my friend.”

Suzanne passed from this life into the hands of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 10, 2023.  She is survived by her two daughters, Bethany (Chris) Howard of Mattawan and Sheree (Jason) Kappen of Cass City: six grandchildren, Lauren and Logan Howard, Isabelle, Rylan, Sawyer and Jackson Kappen. Also surviving is her sister Sandra Wildfong and her nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hoover.  “Do not go where the path might lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 with a rosary beginning at 6:30 pm at Langeland Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services on South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
