Sue Ann Skidmore

June 20, 1945 — August 7, 2023

Climax

August 7, 2023, Sue Ann (Piper) Skidmore passed away in her home where she wanted to be when she was called to her heavenly home.  On June 20, 1945, Murl and Donna (Rambow) Piper, welcomed their second child, Sue Ann. Sue was the only girl of four, sharing life with three brothers: Jerry, Jim, and Chuck. She fondly remembered living on the farm, growing up, and her adventures with her brothers playing baseball and doing farm chores, participating in 4-H, attending Climax-Scott’s High School, performing in plays, playing basketball, and dreaming of being a wife and mother.

During her sophomore year, a senior boy asked her to the prom and as they say the rest is history.

On June 29, 1963, she married that boy, Roger Skidmore and she began living the life she had dreamed.  As a young wife, she worked for TransAmerica Insurance. Once she became a mom to Jeaniemarie, Sharon, and Gary, she was a full time mother and babysitter for children in her community.  As her children grew up, she volunteered in their classrooms, was a member of Scott’s Mother’s Club, worked as a playground supervisor, and librarian. She was a founding member of the first little league softball program in Scotts, Michigan, finding a sponsorship from the Scotts/ Pavilion Fire Department and served as a league commissioner and spent many years coaching her daughters’ teams. She served as a 4-H Leader. She held float building at their home, chaperoned many high school dances, and attended many concerts and athletic events.  As her children grew, she did a variety of jobs - Real McCoy Restaurant, Keiper USA, and Beach Products. In 1988, she started at Wright’s Beauty Academy where her mother and daughter had also attended.  After completion of beauty school, she joined her daughter at Johnny’s Beauty Shop which was in Sue and Roger’s house and was once Sue's mother’s beauty shop. Eventually, Fibromyalgia forced her to retire but she really enjoyed the friendships she made with her clients.  Sue was a member of the Climax United Methodist Church and was involved with choir, Sunday school, and a Kid’s Hope mentor, all things she truly loved.

Sue leaves behind many who deeply loved her: husband Roger, children Jeaniemarie (George) Everest, Gary Skidmore, and son-in-law Randy Sult, grandchildren Erik (Denise) and Amiee Everest, Braydon and Lucy Sult, Emma Skidmore, and more, along with her wonderful great-grandchildren, her brothers Jerry Piper and Chuck (LaNeva) Piper along with brothers-in-law, Dick (Mary Ann) and Bob Skidmore, and many nieces and nephews who she loved wholeheartedly.  Sue was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sharon L. Sult, brother, Jim Piper and sister-in-law, Linda Piper.
