Sucille "Sue" (Mejeur) Naugle

September 6, 1931 — September 9, 2023

Portage, MI

Sue Naugle passed away suddenly Saturday, September 9, 2023, at her home. She was born September 6, 1931, in Kalamazoo, MI, a daughter of Henry and Helen (Smit) Mejeur and had been a lifelong area resident.

Sue was 1 of 8 siblings growing up in difficult economic times but always had what she needed.  She attended the Christian schools, graduating from Kalamazoo Christian HS in 1949.  Sue met her future husband, Archie, when both were 15, were married on October 12, 1950, and were about to celebrate their 73rd anniversary.  She worked at a couple of different office jobs when they were first married but primarily was a very devoted and faithful wife, mom, and homemaker.  Sue was a charter member of Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church and was still attending at the time of her death.  Sue & Archie loved traveling, visiting much of the US & Canada.  They especially liked staying at their place at Thornapple Lake and spending the winters in Harlingen, TX.  Sue was prolific at keeping a journal/diary, recording daily activities for over 40 years.  She was also a terrific baker of cookies and especially pies.  More importantly, Sue loved Jesus and served Him faithfully.  Sue was unfailingly kind and thoughtful, never having a mean word for anyone.  Sue & Archie enjoyed living life together and were nearly inseparable.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Uko (Grace) Mejeur, Jen (Hank) Hoekman, Trena (Art) Mick, Albert (Maxine) Mejeur, Jerry Mejeur, Alice “Jean” Bradley; and brother-in-law, Bill Kokmeyer.  Sue is survived by husband, Archie Naugle, as well as her children, Carol Naugle, Dan (Nancy) Naugle, and Julie (Dan) Josuns; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Marge Kokmeyer; special niece Susan Bennett, brother-in-law Marshall Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning, September 13, 2023, in Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church, 9316 Oakland Drive, Portage MI 49024, with Pastor Bill Fernhout officiating. The family will receive guests at the church beginning at 10:00 and immediately following the service. Graveside services will be held Thursday in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South.
