Steven Lee Baughman

Steven Lee Baughman of Climax, Michigan, passed away on December 15, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on January 22, 1958, to Karol and Marjorie (Hoyt) Baughman.  

Steve graduated from Climax-Scotts High School. In 1976, he began his career at General Motors Corporation. While there, Steve attended community college. In 2006, after giving 30 years to GM, Steve retired. 

Steve was a long-haired, long-bearded “mountain man”. He found great pleasure in the outdoors – hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, camping, and trapping. Above all else, this kind-hearted man loved his family and friends and always put his family first. Steve enjoyed spending time with loved ones, telling jokes, laughing, and just having a good time. 

Steve is survived by his mother; children, Jamie (Rusty) Bennett, Travis (Faith) Baughman, and Erin Matlock; son-in law, Matt Matlock; grandchildren, Haley, Madison, Alex, and Emma Moss, and Kohl, Noah, and Tessah Matlock; great-grandchild, Marie Matlock; and brother, Larry (Dawn) Baughman. 

Steve was preceded in death by his father. 

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 205 E Maple St, Climax, Michigan 49034. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 28^th, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29^th, 2023, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with graveside services to follow at Gilson Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will be held at American Legion Post 465 in Climax following graveside services.
