Shirley (Lloyd) Rodgers

Shirley A. Rodgers, age 92 of Kalamazoo, died at home under hospice care on February 16, 2023. She was born on September 22, 1930, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of William and Sylvia (Covinder) Lloyd. Shirley graduated from Western State High in 1948 and Western Michigan University in 1952. She was a Kindergarten teacher with Kalamazoo Public Schools retiring in 1991. On March 24, 1951, Shirley was married to John Edward Rodgers. They had two sons Michael and Stephen. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her eldest son, Michael Rodgers, in 1999, and her dear husband John in 2013.

She is survived by a son, Stephen (Lisa) Rodgers of Portage; a daughter-in-law, LuAnn Rodgers of Kalamazoo; two grandsons: Kevin and Patrick (Aubrey) Rodgers of Kalamazoo; her great-granddaughter Stella Rodgers; and her granddog Della.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 23rd from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Location, 3926 S. 9th Street. A private committal service will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
