Shirley J. Blaylock

Shirley J. Blaylock passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning, December 29, 2022. She was born October 12, 1946, in Hayti, Missouri daughter of Edwin and Dorothy (Brewer) Jones.

Shirley attended Benton Harbor High School and graduated in 1965.  She worked at Michigan Bell in co-op during high school and after graduation, until Robert Blaylock Jr was born.  She continued to be a homemaker while both of her children were young.  Shirley worked at the Almena Store as a cashier for over 7 years, after the boys were grown.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.  She also coveted time with sisters and nieces, shopping and traveling.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Barbara Liedtke. On August 13, 1965, Shirley married Robert E. Blaylock who survives. Also surviving are her children, Robert (Carrie) Blaylock, Jr. and Todd (Sharon) Blaylock; grandchildren, Nicole, Courtney, Brody, Tyler, Trey, and GracieMae; great-grandchildren, Kolson, Eva, and Kaylee; sisters, Sondra Newton, Sue Shepherd, and Melinda Perky ; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7pm Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St, Kalamazoo MI 49009. Private interment will be held in West Oshtemo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask for you to donate to your favorite charity.
