Sharon Lee (Newell) Peters

Sharon Lee Peters, 76 of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice on July 16, 2023. She was born on March 25, 1947, to Robert and Beatrice (Hamilton) Newell.

Sharon graduated from Loy Norrix High School where she was a part of the basketball and softball teams. She loved sports and never missed her grandchildren’s events. She also golfed in a league with her dear friend Laura.

Sharon married Richard Peters in 1983 and they shared over 25 years together before his passing in 2010. After her husband’s passing, she found companionship in her labradoodle Zippy.

Sharon loved a good time and a good laugh. Above all, she adored her family and her grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her son Scott (Stephanie) Hanel; stepchildren Michelle Peters, Lance Peters, and Nicole (Benny) Clark; grandchildren Gabriella, Isabella, Rafael, Lindsey, Ariel, Raymond, Benny, Richard, Kobe, Baylee, and Christina; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Zayzrie, and Mila. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Peters, and brother Robert Newell.

A memorial gather for Sharon will be on August 10, 2023, in the chapel at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South from 10:00 m to 11:30 am with a memorial service to follow at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Sharon to Rose Arbor Hospice.
