Scotty R. Hill

Scotty Russell Hill, age 79 of Mattawan, died on December 28, 2022. He was born on March 26, 1943, in Freemont, Michigan, the son of John Hill and Elaine Scott Hill. Scotty was a 1962 graduate of Freemont High School. He began working as a stockboy at Woolworth’s and worked his way up to management. One day at work he noticed a beautiful young woman visiting her sister at the store and asked her on a date. Two months later he proposed to that woman, Carol Holdeman. On June 19, 1965, they were married, and they shared 57 wonderful years together. Scotty later worked for Montgomery Ward’s for over 20 years and retired in 2014 from Menards, after 15 years in the shipping and receiving department. His family includes his wife, Carol Hill; his daughters: Russann (Dan) Trautman, Heather (Ed) Clark, and Scotty M. Hill; and his grandchildren: Sarah Trautman, Ronald Clark, and Alexander Clark. He was preceded in death by his father, John Hill and his mother and stepfather, Elaine and Ronald Nieboer. A private family gathering will be held.
