ZUIDWEG, Scot Richard
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Scot Richard Zuidweg, born January 20, 1958 in Kalamazoo to Donald and Jean Skidmore Zuidweg. Scot graduated from Portage Northern High School where he was an outstanding athlete in football, basketball and track. Scot earned numerous area, conference, and regional honors. He attended Western Michigan University and is a retiree of Pfizer. Scot is survived by his parents; brother Alan A. Zuidweg and sister Lauri James Christopherson; aunts and uncles: Janet and Rudy Hanson, Earlene and Cal DeForest and Alice Carpentier; nieces and nephews: Matt Lauren Christopherson, Alison Christopherson, Adrian Zuidweg and Emily Zuidweg; cousins: Stephen Crane, Jeff Crane, Julie Jeff Quick, Luanne Marshall Castle, Ted Renay Hanson, Charles Carpentier and Jason Celena DeForest. Preceding him in death were; aunt and uncle Dani and Roger Crane and his grandparents Adrian and Edna Zuidweg and Doris and Bob Hook and Donald Skidmore. Scot was always a kind and considerate person who marched to his own drummer but was always liked by those who got to know him. In scouting he received the God and Country Award. He enjoyed watching sports, coaching and teaching young athletes, and time with his family. Private family services will be arranged by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. and he will be buried at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Donations in his name may be made to Portage Northern High School Athletic Fund, in care of the high school or to a charity of one's choice.
