Sally May (Quinn) Woodson

Sally May Woodson (Quinn) entered the world on January 22, 1960, in Kalamazoo, MI to the parents Darrell and Mary (Brisbin) Quinn. Sally entered her heavenly home on July 13, 2023. Sally united in marriage to Melvin Woodson on December 11, 1982. They were blessed to have 40 years of marriage together. Sally was a graduate of Old Central High School.

Sally had three biological children, Darrell (Courtney) Woodson of Muskegon, MI. Ethellen (Jacques) Harris of Albion, MI. Keshia (Moulaye) Sow of Kalamazoo, MI. Four stepchildren Daminga Edwards, Melvin (Ann) Woodson Jr. Brad (Shonda) Woodson and Todd Woodson. Sally also took on the role of mothering other children up until the time of her death; Beatrice Hubbard, Bernice Quinn, Zachariah Quinn, Gabriel Canada, and Sarah Canada.

Sally provided childcare services to numerous families over the course of 22 years. She also led a Girl Scout Troop for many years. Sally enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, camping, and spending time with her family and friends. Sally would let you know it whenever she talked to you or saw you.

Sally was a believer of God, a devoted and loving wife, mother, nanna, sister, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend. Sally is preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Velma Woodson; sister Viola Quinn; and two grandchildren Jordynne and Daniel Woodson.

Sally is survived by her husband Melvin; children Darrell, Ethellen, Keshia, and Sarah; a host of grandchildren; sisters Betty Redd of Kalamazoo, MI, Bernice Quinn of Fayetteville, NC, Beatrice (Roy) Hubbard of Kalamazoo, MI; brothers Darrell Quinn of Decatur, MI, Jeff (Wendy) Quinn of Greenfield, WI; sisters-in-law Thelma Williams of Battle Creek, MI, Sharon (Danny) Woodson-Moss of Battle Creek, MI, Sarah Woodson of Oran, MO; numerous cousins; a host of nieces and nephews; two aunts June (Ken) Cade of Arkansas, and Dolly Fowler of Sandford, MI.

Sally will be missed dearly, never forgotten, and loved Always.

Friends may meet the family Friday, July 21, 2023, from 6-8pm and Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 10-11am at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, 622 South Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 where a funeral will follow at 11am.

The burial will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, 3941 South Westnedge, Kalamazoo, MI 49048, following the funeral service.

Repass at Bethany Reformed Church, South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be making monetary donations to the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk under a team called “A Mother’s Love” which is comprised of Sally’s children and family members. To donate or ask questions, please see Keshia or Ethellen.
