Roy T. Hill

Roy T. Hill passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, at the age of 82. Born in Kalamazoo, MI on November 4, 1940, to the late Albert and Ora (McNees) Hill. Roy retired from Georgia Pacific as a de-ink operator in 2000 after 41 years of service. Roy married Claudia “Dutch” Hoogakker on December 19, 1958, and she preceded him in death in 2003. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheelers, snowmobiling and race cars. Roy also had a passion for collecting old cars.

Roy is survived by his five children, Randy (Julie) Hill, Rick (Kim) Hill, Roger (Cathy) Hill, Vicki Hill, and Shelly (Ted) Warner; six grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Audrey Bryant; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Nelson, Nancy Hill and Delores Hill; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Preceding him in death were his wife, Claudia (Hoogakker); siblings, Carl Hill, Michael Hill, Sid Hill, Janet Hill and Debbie Dozeman; and longtime companion, Betty Edmundson.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 11:00 am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services 3926 S 9th St Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the funeral home, and from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday. There will be a luncheon immediately following services. Interment will take place at Mt. Ever Rest Memorial Park South, following the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care Navigators, in memory of Roy.
