of Kalamazoo Passed away October 12, 2007 at his home. He was born November 27, 1934 in Kalamazoo to the late William and Nellie Hoogenboom DeBruyn. He was united in marriage to Janice DeVries on May 24, 1957 in Kalamazoo. Bob?s love of his Lord and of his family was above all else. He was a lifelong member of Bethany Reformed Church where he taught Sunday School and was a youth leader as well as being a Deacon and Elder. He actively volunteered his time to Kal-Haven Trail. His other volunteer activities included, S. Eastern Guide Dogs for the Blind in Palmetto, FL, and mission work at the Anchor House in Port Manitee, FL. Bob was co-founder and co-owner of Westside Auto Body from 1978 until retiring in 1997. Among his hobbies were, biking, sailing, cross-country skiing, traveling and enjoying his pontoon boat. He took a special liking to walking his grand-dogs, Ringo and Buddy. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until honorably discharged in 1959. Surviving Bob are his, wife; Janice from Kalamazoo; children; Jim Sally Debruyn of Kalamazoo, Brenda Richard Barrena of Cathedral City, CA and South Haven, and Janel Curtis Cunningham of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Sarah, Josh, Zach, Tiegan and Veronica; brothers, William Jr. Karen DeBruyn and Jerry DeBruyn; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, October 14th, from 2-4 and 6-8:00PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Life Celebration Service will be held Monday, October 15th, 11:00AM, at Bethany Reformed Church, 1833 S. Burdick St. with Rev. Dr. Robert Terwilliger, officiating. A private committal service will follow. Memorials may be directed in Bob?s name to Bethany Reformed Church Memorial fund, Friends of Kal-Haven Trail or to Hospice of SW Michigan. www.langelands.com . 343-1508
