Rakela Y. Walker

Passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 in Detroit. Rakela was born September 1, 1979 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Richard Bowden and Carolyn Walker.She graduated from Kalamazoo Old Central in 1997. Following high school, she obtained a degree in the dental field and as a realtor. Rakela worked at various dental offices in the last twelve years.  She enjoyed writing songs, singing and cooking. She was a very kind person who would help anyone in need.

Rakela is survived by her children, Rakeem Elliott, Davon Brown, Nakela Walker, Zakee Edwards; granddaughter, Ka’Lani Thomas; her mother, Carolyn Walker; father, Richard Bowden; her siblings, Retisha Lockett, Davonda Smith, Waltesha Rolland; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and host of nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 5:00-8:00pm Friday, February 10 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 South Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. A homegoing service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 11 at the Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C., 3210 Virginia Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49004. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery-Kalamazoo.
