Peter Hartzel Fry

Peter Hartzel Fry, 57, passed away Tuesday November 22, 2022, in a very tragic work-related accident in Bloomingdale, Mi.

He was born on November 10, 1965, in South Bend, Indiana to John Emerson Fry and Betty (Susie) Lou Wigginton. Peter resided in the South Bend, Indiana area for most of his life.

Peter was known to be a general handyman and never passed up an opportunity to better himself. He found joy in working outside, he loved nature. He acquired his G.E.D and was so proud of it and said he wasn’t going to stop there. He also had a very close relationship with our Heavenly Father and did his best to lead his family in the same direction.

He was an amazing father, brother, uncle, grandfather, son, friend and so much more. Peter cherished any time he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren. He had such a unique bond with each one of his nieces and nephews. He particularly enjoyed taking his nieces and nephews on moped/bike rides and on park trips for them to play. Peter was more than an uncle; he was also a father figure and role model to many. They are going to miss their Uncle Pete so much he was their favorite uncle and best friend. He showed pure genuine love no matter the obstacles in his way, he wouldn’t let anything get in his way of letting his family know just how much he loved and cared for them. He would give the shirt off his back if needed.

He loved spending his free time with family, having a good time and enjoying a nice party when he was able to. He also enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, etc.

Peter is survived by his children, Brandy Fry of Niles, Mi., Justin Caldwell of South Bend, Ind.; two grandchildren JennaMay Sopczynski-Fry and Emma Zachariades-Fry of South Bend, Ind.; his siblings Effie Minchew, Sherry Longacre, Roy Fry, Mike (Tammy) Fry, and Karl (Carla) Giles of South Bend, Ind. Andrew (Geneva) Fry of Niles, Mi. and Hank(Angie) Fry of Illinois; his lover/longtime friend Robin Caldwell of South Bend, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Betty (Susie) Lou Wigginton, his Father John Emerson Fry, His Stepfather Milton Wigginton, His twin-brothers David and Danny Giles, his sister-in-law JoAnn Fry, and his sister-in-law/best friend Tyger Fry.
