Peggy Anne (Matteson) Stuut

August 7, 1949 — December 14, 2022

Battle Creek

Peggy Anne Stuut, age 73, Battle Creek, MI passed away on Wednesday, December 14th, 2022.  She passed away from Ovarian Cancer and Dementia.  Peggy was born on August 7, 1949, in Kalamazoo, MI.  She attended Portage Schools where she graduated from High School.  She also attended Central Michigan University for a very short amount of time.  Peggy’s career was filled with many roles.  She worked for years as seasonal help at Tepe’s, full time at Northern Reflections, a couple of seasons in a pickle factory but the majority of her career was as a librarian.  She worked at Indian Lake Elementary for many years.  Peggy really enjoyed working with the children and the staff.  She always spoke very highly of her time at Indian Lake Elementary.  Peggy had many other activities she also enjoyed.  She was ruthless at the games Sorry and Yahtzee.  She was almost unstoppable.  She loved to play cards, tennis, running, horseback riding, reading her Stephen King books, puzzles but most of all loved hanging out with her family and friends.  She was the person in the family that always hosted a Holiday Party.  There were many times that the kids had green pancakes and eggs for St. Patrick’s Day breakfast as an example.  For many years, prior to Duane Stuut's passing, Peggy and Duane would travel south to avoid the cold winters in Michigan.  Alabama was their favorite location.  They had a trailer there and a favorite park they stayed in during the cold winter months.  Here they met a great group of friends that they became very close to.  When Duane passed, Peggy came back to Michigan and lived with her son Paul and his wife, Candy Stuut.  For the last 2½ years they lived and travelled together.  Peggy had many new adventures.  She travelled to Orlando, FL and Myrtle Beach, SC on a few different trips.  Peggy really enjoyed her time here as she was able to be close to her family and also watch the nature outside.  She never forgot to say “Thanks for a great day” while she lived there. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Duane A. Stuut and her parents Mary and Doug Matteson.  She is survived by her sons, Paul and Candy Stuut, and Jon and Leslee Stuut; her brother, Tom Matteson; her brothers-in-law, Dave Stuut, and Dan and Kathy Stuut; her grandchildren, Casie Stuut, Tyler Stuut, Kyle Stuut, Amanda Luber, Samantha Werner; her great-grandchildren, Avery and Miles Burwell and Grady Werner; her nephew, Matt and Jess Stuut; her niece, Sara Stuut; and her great-niece, Carmen Stuut.   A visitation will be held in memorial of Peggy Stuut on Saturday, January 14th from 4-6pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 411 E Centre Ave Portage, MI 49002.  Peggy was a loving and caring person that would gladly help anyone in need, whether it was family, friends or someone she just met.  She was a great wife, mother and grandmother.  She always lived life to the fullest.  She may be gone but she will never be forgotten.  Please join the family on Jan 14th at Langeland Family Funeral Home to help family and friends celebrate the life of Peggy Stuut.
