Paul MacGrayne

May 17, 1930 — December 30, 2023

Kalamazoo, Michigan

Paul Ralph MacGrayne of Kalamazoo, Michigan went to be with Jesus on December 30, 2023.  He was born on May 17, 1930, in Kalamazoo, MI.  He was the son of Daly C. and Mina (Weber) MacGrayne.

He graduated in 1948 from Kalamazoo Central High School.  He attended Western Michigan University for 2 years.  Then he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as Airman First Class during the Korean War.  At a USO dance in St. Louis, MO he met the love of his life, Bonnie Torbitzky.  They were married on June 27, 1954.

Paul completed his military obligation and then returned to Kalamazoo where he finished his bachelor’s degree at WMU.  Paul joined the Upjohn Company in 1957 and worked 33 years in Accounting and Information Technology.  Upon retirement Paul and Bonnie served at the Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky for 3 years.

Paul had a passion for family, sharing God’s Word, gardening, and golfing.  He was a longtime member of Pathfinder Church (formerly Portage United Methodist Church).  Paul loved life, people, and telling stories.

He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie, his daughters, Meg (Jim) Wilt, Judy (Chris) White, Pam (John) Pula; grandchildren, Katie Wilt, Andrew (Megan) Wilt, Mark (Rachel) Pula, Laurel Pula, Abby (Ross) Richards; great-grandchildren, Atlas, Zoey and Ori Wilt, Ben and Luke Pula, along with many nieces and nephews.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Daly L. and sister Janet Camery.

A memorial service will be held at the Pathfinder Church, 8740 S. Westnedge Avenue, Portage, MI, on Thursday January 4th, 2024, at 11:00 AM, preceded by a visitation at 10:00 AM.  A luncheon will follow the service.
