Patsy Lou Buchanan

Patsy Lou Buchanan, age 61, of Mattawan, passed away June 18, 2024 after a long battle with several health concerns that began at just 40 years old. She was born May 13, 1963 in South Haven, Michigan to the late George William and Velma Louise (Cooper) Cargo.

Patsy was a Paw Paw High School graduate and worked most of her life as a cashier at Harding’s and D&W. Patsy loved to socialize and hang out with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, camping, golf cart rides, shopping and garage sales, and was known to love gambling.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Velma Cargo, and her husband, Jerome Steven Buchanan on October 18, 2021.

She is survived by her children, Jessica Buchanan, Jarrett (Corey Skartsiaris) Buchanan, and Michelle (Demetrius) Johnson; grandchildren, Byron, Amir, Nathanial, Cam’ron, Devon, Andrue, Owen, and Jalyn; great-grandchildren, Laila and Byron; brothers, George (Maryann) Cargo and Donald Cargo; sisters-in-law, Linda (Steven) Redmond, Garrie (David) Smith, and Tina Fennessee; brother-in-law, Timothy Fennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with her family on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 9:30-10:30am at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30am. Patsy will be laid to rest with her husband, Jerome, at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
