Patricia Ann Santek (DeLoof), 94 of Marshall, passed away peacefully at Friendship Village on October 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 23, 1929, to Jack and Dorothy (Byington) DeLoof.
Patricia spent her career as a legal secretary for the State of Michigan Unemployment office where she graciously helped those in need of these services. She had a knack for serving others before herself as a volunteer at the Fountain Clinic and Oaklawn Hospital.
Patricia married Edward J. Santek on July 26, 1952, in Kalamazoo. They shared 51 wonderful years together before Ed’s passing in 2003.
Patricia loved books, reading and libraries, as a young woman she wished to be a librarian. She fulfilled this dream by volunteering at the Marshall District Library. She also loved to knit and would create beautiful Afghans, scarves, and other warm items needed for the winter.
Patricia was a devout Catholic and attended Mass every weekend. Her loyalty to her faith was strong and in turn this made her strong. She shared a solid bond with God, and we are all blessed to know that she now lives eternally in His Kingdom.
Patricia is survived by her children Dr. David (Lori) Santek PhD, Susan (Joe) Rodriguez, and Mary (Mark) Pike; grandchildren Steven (Jenny) Santek, Michelle Santek, Joshua Santek, Sean (Becky) Santek, Nathan (Theresa) Rodriguez, Danielle (Lou) Farrace, Lauren Pike, and Garrett (Megan) Pike; great-grandchildren Elijah, Sydney, Symone, Serena, Caleb, and Mira; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed and her brothers Ron and Jim DeLoof.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our cousin, Laurie Pruitt, and for her unwavering support and immense comfort during the final hours of our mother's life. Your presence and compassion meant the world to her, and it eased her journey into the next chapter.
A private funeral service and burial will be held for Patricia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fountain Clinic 111 N. Jefferson St. #1, Marshall, MI 49068 or Marshall District Library 124 W. Green St. Marshall, MI 49068.
