Morris Allen DeRyke

Morris Allen DeRyke, 84, passed away at Rose Arbor Hospice Center on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

He was born on July 28, 1939, in Kalamazoo, MI, to the late Garritt and Lena (Price) DeRyke. He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, in Schoolcraft, MI.

Morris was a great, strong man who loved his family deeply and always wanted the best for his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting. Morris was a member of the private hunting club on the farm and the Pigeon Roller Club. Above all, he was a devoted citizen who always had an open and welcoming home. His devotion to his family was a cornerstone of his life, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Morris is survived by his loving wife, Bobbie (Davis) DeRyke. His four children also survive him: Dale (Debbie), Brian (Beth), Diana (Richard) Evonitz, and Nancy (Patrick) Aldworth; eleven grandchildren: Rachel (Josh), Leslie (Rick), Garritt, Ciara (Taylor), Justin, Brian (Wendy), Jeremy (Dawn), Zach, Megan, Taylor, and Kelsey; and seven great-grandchildren: Kalaryah, Kaede, Sebastian, Nathaniel, Isaac, Silas and Freyja. Morris is also survived by his sister, Carolyn (Ron) Canard, and many nieces and nephews.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Doris (Clyde), Dorothy (Coy), Gordon (Donna), and Marilyn, as well as one great-granddaughter, Willow.

Morris's life will be celebrated on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 3:30 PM at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 9300 W XY Ave., Schoolcraft, MI 49087. Friends may gather from 2:30 PM until the time of services. This will be a joyous occasion to share memories and celebrate the life of a remarkable man filled with love for his family.

A private burial will occur at Genessee Prairie Cemetery, Oshtemo Township, in Kalamazoo, MI.
