Melvin "Harold" Konyndyk

Melvin “Harold” Konyndyk, age 85, of Kalamazoo graduated to Heaven on September 6, 2022. Harold started his journey of life on July 29, 1937 in Marion, Michigan to the late James and Martha (Hoeksema) Konyndyk.

Harold was a people person in every respect. He was adored by all who met him and especially cherished his family and was affectionally referred to as “Old Man Grandpa,” which he loved. His family fondly remembers Sunday dinners where he enjoyed cooking for them. Harold was dedicated to his work in sales at V & A Bootery, where he put in over 30 years of his time. He was also a longtime member of Calvary Reformed Church in Mattawan and enjoyed gardening when he was still able.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Joe Konyndyk, Warren Konyndyk, Marvin Konyndyk, Clarence Konyndyk, Lavene Stroven, Lucy Ferro, Angie Wiley, and Doris VanOeveren.

He is survived by his children, Martin (Mary) Konyndyk, Michael Konyndyk, Marc Konyndyk, Michelle (John) Tsui; grandchildren, Joshua (Shannon) Konyndyk, Aden (Sam) Barnes, Bryana (Tailer) Deal, Matthew Konyndyk, Bradyn (Dan) Bracken, and Joseph (Christa) Konyndyk; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Sluis; sisters-in-law, Joan and Mamie; many nieces and nephews; and Lady Friend, Alberta Skinner.

Cremation will take place, and a celebration of life will be held in Summer of 2023 at Calvary Reformed Church in Mattawan.
