Mary A. (Lynch) Zylman

Mary A. Zylman was born on September 29, 1929, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and passed away at home on October 31, 2023. She was the daughter of James and Lodean (Esman) Lynch. Mary was a 1947 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School. She worked at Dygert’s Drug Store; was a cashier in a grocery store; and eventually went to work at Miller Lumber Co. where she met Robert Zylman. They were married on July 16, 1955, and shared 58 years of marriage before his death in 2014. Mary started out with a huge interest in flowers, then ceramics, then years later antiques. She worked for years for Carl and Norma Tackett at T and W Antiques; then was self-employed with her own business “Country Flavor” Antiques and finished as an estate appraiser. In later years, she attended Renovation Church with her son Randy. Mary and Randy had an especially close relationship, and she will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara (Arthur) Keefe, her parents, and her husband Robert. Mary is survived by her son, Randy; one sister-in-law; and 18 nieces and nephews.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 411 East Centre Avenue, Portage. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Craig Glass officiating. Interment will follow at South Portage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Compassus Hospice of S.W. Michigan.
