Mary A. (Marquez) Lopez

Mary Alice Lopez, age 67 of Kalamazoo, died at home on November 28, 2022. She was born on May 28, 1955, in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Marcellino and Josephine (Ybarra) Marquez. Mary grew up in Holland, Michigan and received her Associates Degree in Sociology from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. On November 13, 1970, Mary married Jesse Lopez. They spent 52 years of marriage filled with music, dancing, and many happy memories. Mary enjoyed time relaxing at home and visiting with her family. She liked to play BINGO and gather together with the people she loved. Her family includes her husband, Jesse Lopez; her daughters:  Trina Lopez and Rita Lopez; her grandchildren: Deshawn Dyer, Demetris Dyer, Cristell Davis, and Jesse Quavion Lopez; her nine great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters: Hilda Garcia, Rafael “Fila” Guajardo, Cecelia Johnson, Arthur Marquez, and Richard Marquez; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Marcellino Marquez, Jr.
