Marjorie Klaiber

Marjorie Klaiber, 78 of Portage, passed away at home on January 9, 2023. Marjorie was born to the late Dave and Clarabelle (Kinney) Kauffman in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on January 17, 1944.

Marjorie was a graduate of Western Michigan University and spent her career as a secretary. When she wasn’t at work, she was a devoted single mother to her four children. She was fond of all animals, gardening, bowling, board games and card games. She was always looking forward to family poker games with extended aunts and uncles. Marjorie’s love for travelling took her on many adventures to several states across the country, Caribbean cruises, Ireland, and Australia; to name a few! Some of her most cherished memories are those trips with her family to Mackinac Island.

Marjorie is survived by her beloved children Brian (Pam) Klaiber, Scott (Deb) Klaiber, Rick Klaiber, and Kelly (Chad) Nichols; grandchildren Char (James), J.D. (Candice), twins Brianna and Chloe, Shelby, Nick, Jaocb, and Lucas; and great-grandchildren Austin, Lily, Lana, and Logan.

A graveside service will be held for Marjorie at Bly Cemetery in Marcellus, MI on her 79th birthday, January 17, 2023 at 3:00 pm. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Marjorie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, American Heart Association, or the Kalamazoo SPCA.
