Margaret (Mejeur) VanderPloeg

Went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Margaret was born September 25, 1934 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of the late Jacob and Elsien (Schipper) Mejeur. She and her husband founded Ship-Pac Inc. in 1964.  Margaret was motivated by helping people both at home and abroad, volunteering her time to mission organizations such as CRWRC, Partners Worldwide and hospice. She was a lifelong member of Grace Christian Reformed Church as well as a supporter of Kalamazoo Christian Schools. She was an avid reader and loved baking and traveling. She treasured her family and friends and believed every blessing came from God. On November 19, 1954 Margaret was united in marriage to her loving husband John VanderPloeg, who preceded her in death on January 11, 2021.

Surviving are her children, Kathie (Andrew) Hoekstra, Randall (Dawn) VanderPloeg and Michael (Kimberly) VanderPloeg; 9 grandchildren, Paul (Jessica) Hoekstra, Joan (Jeff) Van Fossan, April (Mark) Homkes, Andrew (Terese) Hoekstra, Stephen (Clara) Herson, John (TaLyn) Herson, Andrew (Anna) VanderPloeg, John (Jessica) VanderPloeg and Kelsey (James) McHenry; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ebo Mejeur; as well as many extended family members. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, John; siblings, Uko “Dutch” Mejeur, Rena Rehm, Jerry Mejeur, Trena Onderlinde, Henry Mejeur, John Mejeur and Wubbo “Chub” Mejeur.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 5-7 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes 3926 S 9th St Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Private entombment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Christian Schools, Gentiva Hospice or Grace Christian Reformed Church.
