Kalamazoo Free from the recent limitations of his aging body, Marcus now walks with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he served all through his life. Marcus was born April 13, 1911, in Paterson, NJ. He married and raised his family there, then moved to Kalamazoo in 1976 when he retired from a career in construction. His wife, Adriana, died in 1999. Marcus died Sunday, March 11. He is survived by their children, Robert and Ann Van Wyck, Ruth and George deceased Heeringa, Marvin and Helen Van Wyck and "loved like a daughter" Julie Schafer and her husband, Bruce; two brothers, Jacob and Cornelius; 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Westwood Christian Reformed Church, with Pastor Dale Slings officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Tuesday today from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be given to Hospice of Southwest Michigan or the Activity Fund of the Springs at the Fountains. We are so appreciative of the loving and supportive care Dad received during his year at the Springs.
