Lynn Carol Vander Roest, 69, was born July 29, 1954 and passed away April 9, 2024 peacefully in her home. She grew up in Portage, Michigan and attended John F. Kennedy Center School until the age of 26. She lived at Douglas House, Residential Opportunities Inc. for 44 years. Lynn participated in Special Olympics bowling and loved going to Church.
She went on numerous cruises with ROI and enjoyed any kind of travel. Lynn worked at MRC and Portage Community Education. Lynn saw the best in everything she did and everyone she met. Time with family was extra special for her.
Lynn is survived by 3 siblings; Karen Moss, Julie (Bernie) Bedell and Steve (Carol) Vander Roest; 8 nieces and nephews and 6 great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Ruth (Zwart) Vander Roest.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Southridge Church at 11:00 am on Monday, April 15, 2024 located at 6726 Texas Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with Pastor Mark Vanderson officiating. Visitation with the family will be held an hour prior to the service at 10:00 am. Their family invites you to a small reception following the service.
Lynn will be privately interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery, with her parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ROI Independent Fund, 1100 S Rose St, Kalamazoo, MI 49001 or MRC Industries Inc, 2538 S. 26th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49048.
