Lillian F. (Kohler) Ruemer

Lillian F. Ruemer, age 95, of Kalamazoo, Michigan passed away on August 31, 2023, at Alamo Nursing Home. Lillian was born on March 21, 1928, to the late Theodore and Lillian Kohler.

Lillian went to school and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She worked as an administrative assistant on Governors Island. It was here she met Walter Ruemer and on May 10, 1952, Lillian was united in marriage to Walter. They eventually settled and raised their family in Kalamazoo. Lillian will always be remembered as a phenomenal cook, the love she showed to her family and friends, and for her sharp and quick wit and ability to make others laugh easily.

Lilian was preceded in death by her husband Walter Ruemer on May 20, 2014. Her brother Robert Kohler also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Kristin Pepin-Correll, and Jodi (Bill) Slager; grandchildren, Heather and Ryan Pepin, and Jacob, Andrew, Lindsey Slager; great-grandson, Brandon Pepin; and nephew, Glenn Kohler.

A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday September 12, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick St, Kalamazoo MI 49007. Private interment services will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Centrica Care Navigators or Milestone Senior Services.
