Leona Bell (Montague) DeHaan

February 15, 1937 — June 29, 2022

Kalamazoo

Leona B. DeHaan, age 85 of Kalamazoo and Mancelona, died on June 29, 2022. She was born on February 15, 1937, in Plymouth, Michigan, the daughter of William, Sr. and Jenny (Ringo) Montague. She was a graduate of Mendon High School. For over 20 years, Leona worked at Gibson Guitar in Kalamazoo. On March 31, 1967, she married Harold DeHaan, who died the day after her. She was a member of Third Reformed Church/Centerpoint Church in Kalamazoo and Bear Lake Christian Church, near their home up north. Leona enjoyed reading, cooking, and bird watching. She was a hard worker and dedicated to caring for others, especially her husband Harold. Leona will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family includes her son, Rick (Debara) Ulrich; her step-sons: Doug (Sue) DeHaan and Jeff DeHaan; her 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandsons; her 5 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Beverly Weaver and Betty Arbor; her brothers, Bill Montague and Leroy Montague; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her step-son, 1st Lt. Todd DeHaan; and her brothers and sisters, Helen Poth, Sally Montague, Jack, Art, Floyd, Delbert, and Harold Montague.

Friends may visit with her family on Wednesday, July 6 from 1:00-2:00pm at Centerpoint Church, 2345 North 10th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where a memorial service will be held at 2:00pm.
