Lee Albert Scheffers, age 78 of Kalamazoo, died on March 20, 2024. He was born on August 27, 1945, in Kalamazoo, the son of Albert and Martha (Reyers) Scheffers. Lee was a 1963 graduate of Loy Norrix High School and received his degree from Parsons Business College. During the Vietnam War, Lee served in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he began his 35 year career at Eaton Corporation. After retirement, Lee volunteered for 20 years at Bronson Hospital and at the Kalamazoo Deacon Conference. Lee married Lynne Armstrong on September 9, 1966. They were members for over 50 years at North Park Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory board and was in small groups. Lee loved sports, including basketball, tennis, fishing, and pickleball. He was a fanatic about his garden, growing hundreds of flowers and plants. His garden and immaculate lawn were Lee’s way to unwind after a day at work and volunteering. 

His family includes his wife of 57 years, Lynne Scheffers; his daughters: Rachell (Paul) Juriga and Melissa Scheffers; his grandchildren: Christina (Dale) Norris, Paul Juriga, and Natalie Juriga; his great-granddaughters: Maddie and Haleigh; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Marilyn (Jack) Johnson and Ellen Blake, and his son-in-law Thomas Colucci. 

Friends may visit with his family on Monday, March 25th from 4:00-7:00 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Home, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, and on Tuesday, March 26th from 10:00-11:00 AM at the North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Road, Kalamazoo, where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Paul Fazio officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lee may be made to Kalamazoo Deacon Conference or North Park Reformed Church. Interment will be held at West Cooper Cemetery.
