Laurie Lynn Fitzpatrick

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Laurie Fitzpatrick, on August 15, 2023, in Ann Arbor, MI. Laurie passed away surrounded by her loved ones after a hard-fought battle with an extremely rare illness. Born on September 15, 1961, Laurie was the child of the late Patrick Fitzpatrick and Dorothy (McDonald) Fitzpatrick in Kalamazoo.

After graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1979, Laurie worked for Bronson Methodist Hospital for over 40 years. She was a dedicated mother who treasured her children. Her tireless efforts ensured that they had everything they needed, which taught them the work ethic they have today.

Fondly known as Nana, Laurie loved to spoil her grandchildren and spent cherished time with them whenever possible. She held a special place in her heart for animals; Laurie adored her Chocolate Lab, Murphy, as well as her grand fur babies, Sampson and Bash. During her illness, Bash remained at her side, lying in bed with her for two weeks straight. She loved how much they loved her.

In her spare time, Laurie loved to cross stitch and had the ability to make beautiful pictures. Over the years, she completed hundreds of pictures, generously gifting many to family and friends.

Laurie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Josh (Darcie) Hicks; her daughter and best friend, Meghanne (Luke) Wagner; her grandchildren, Ethan (Melissa) Hicks, Caleb Hicks, and Christian Hicks; her siblings, James Fitzpatrick, Karen (Jeff) Garrison, Paul Fitzpatrick, and Carol (Ron) Burns; several nieces and nephews; and her dog Murphy.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Fitzpatrick.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 24 from 5-8:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo MI, 49009. A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:00am Friday, August 25 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St, Kalamazoo, MI, 49001.
