Laura A. (Ledlow) Harrison

September 3, 1959 — June 18, 2023

Portage, Michigan

Laura A. (Ledlow) Harrison, was born on Thursday, September 3, 1959 and she died on Sunday, June 18, 2023.  She is the daughter of Viola (Vorick) and Harold Ledlow.

Laurie was blessed to have three children she loved deeply.  She had a unique relationship with each one and loved seeing them thrive as adults.  If she was talking, she usually included something good about her children.

While she traveled quite a bit, she hated to fly and did not like driving on bridges that went over water.  Consequently, most places she traveled, she only visited once if it required crossing over water.

From sun up to sundown, Laurie worked to communicate with all those she loved and cared about.   Including her cat Fazzo Lynn Harrison.  She spoiled many animals through her years.

Laurie was quick witted and always smiling while making jokes.  She was funny and fun.  Her nephews loved her for many reasons and considered her the voice of fun.

She had a genuine kindness for people struggling.  She accepted everyone.  She enjoyed working to help the elderly and children.  Laurie enjoyed working at nursing homes to bring smiles to residents.  She also enjoyed being the crossing guard for Comstock Elementary.  She had a knack for befriending everyone, and everyone got a nickname from her.  She provided care for seniors citizens and worked at the Laurels of Galesburg for many years.   She provided care for seniors or individuals needing special care in home settings.  She lived her life to be kind and was a beautiful person that will be missed.

Her family includes children: Tracey (Russ Van Wynen) Ledlow, Matthew Ledlow, and Debbie Harrison; grandchildren: Alexis Ledlow, Hunter Walker, and Sara Walker; siblings: Dale Ledlow, Julie Smith, Karen Ledlow, Linda (Dean) Steinke, Trish Strand; and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold Ledlow and Viola Richardson and her brothers-in-law: Buddy Smith and Bob Strand.

The family are following Laurie’s wish to be cremated without funeral.  A celebration of her life will be held September 3, 2023 in the Kalamazoo area.  Please contact her family via email if you would like to learn more.  Please include name and how you knew Laurie.  Email address:   Betty32219@aol.com.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation of time or, money to the Humane Society of Kalamazoo, make an extra call or stop to catch up with loved ones this week.  Stop at a nearby nursing home and visit with someone wishing they had a visitor.  Or, kick back and notice something beautiful in life you’ve been too busy to see lately.
