Of Grand Rapids John passed away Thursday July 22, 2010 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was born March 23, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the son of Paul and Mable Lecraw Staley. John was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by WKZO-TV for over 26 years as a television engineer until his retirement. Preceding him in death are his wife, Rita Schermerhorn Staley, on April 14, 2009, and his parents. Surviving are three children, Margaret Don Zeigler of Las Vegas, NV, Tom Peg Staley of Holly Springs, NC, and Paul Lynn Staley of Clio, MI; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services for John will be the Grand Rapid Home for Veterans later this week with date and time to be determined, please call Paul Staley for information, 810-964-5389.
