John William Kneeland

August 29, 1946 — September 14, 2020

John W. Kneeland, 74, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020, in the afternoon at his home in Portage. He was born August 29, 1946 in Lansing, MI to the late Frank and Dorothy (Skidmore) Kneeland. John was united in marriage to Nancy Williams on September 15, 1989. John served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, from April of 1966 until honorably discharged in April of 1969. John had many interests but most important to him was to live a life that reflects Jesus. He enjoyed woodworking, carving, creating stained glass designs, nature photography, golf, traveling and was an accomplished marksman. He was called a Pilgrim. John is survived by his wife, Nancy Kneeland; children, Julie (Bill) Taylor, Brian Kneeland, Scott (Michelle) Black and Todd (Lanine) Black; five grandchildren, Madison Black, Noah Black, August Taylor, Clayton Taylor and Ainsley Black; siblings, Sue Wade and Thomas Kneeland; and many nieces and nephews. A Homegoing service will take place October 16, 2020 at 12:00, with visitation at 11:00 at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S Drake Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Pastor Jeff Whitaker officiating. Services are entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo. A private interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan and Calvary Bible Church.
