Jimmy Ray Butcher, age 82 of Kalamazoo, died at home on September 13, 2024. He was born with his twin sister Janice on June 3, 1942, in Alma, Michigan, children of Charles and Frances (Dody) Butcher.
Jimmy grew up in the Battle Creek area and lived most of his life in the Kalamazoo area. For 28 years he worked at Eckrich, for five years he worked as a floor technician at the Laurels of Galesburg, and for the last eight years he was at Bronson Hospital as a floor technician.
On February 27, 1965, he married Mary Jackson and they spent 59 years making memories and raising their three children. Jimmy enjoyed golfing and watching golf games. He was an avid University of Michigan fan and especially loved watching football. Mary and Jimmy liked to play Bingo and spend time at the casino.
His family includes his wife, Mary Butcher; his children: Sherri Butcher, Dawn (Jeff) Leinaar, Kim Butcher, and Jimmy and Dianna Holman; his grandcats; his sisters: Connie Davidson and Janice Wilkey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eleven brothers and sisters.
