Jean Ann Homola

November 13, 1938 — August 25, 2023

Kalamazoo

Jean Ann (Partee) Homola, 84, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family around her on Friday, August 25, 2023. Jean was born on November 13, 1938, in Tiffin, OH to the late Bernard and Alice (Smith) Partee. Jean graduated from East Jordan High School in 1957, then attended Muskegon Business School. In her younger years, Jean loved to ski and joined the local ski club where she met her future husband William Homola, Jr. They were married on October 24, 1964, and celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last year.

Jean worked as an administrative assistant at both Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Kalamazoo Public Schools where she enjoyed helping the students and staff. Jean was a true people person and she had a knack for making everyone she met feel like someone special. She possessed a deep faith and strength, and she took on all of the many challenges that life threw at her with a grace and positive attitude that inspired everyone who knew her. She was a devout Catholic who volunteered her time and resources to St. Monica School and Parish while raising her family, and in her later years she enjoyed being part of the community at St. Thomas More Student Parish. She had a smile and kind words for everyone she encountered, and she was always happy to lend an ear and a helping hand to anyone in need.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; her brother, James; and her sister, Anne Marie. She is survived by her children, Kim (Sean) McGrath of Austin, TX, David Homola of Kalamazoo, MI, and Sandra Homola of Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Mei Li McGrath; sister, Rosemary (Norm) Popp of Green Valley, AZ; Charles (Rita) Partee of Seneca Falls, NY, Richard (Lisa) Partee of DeBary, FL, John (Pat) Partee of Kalamazoo, MI, and Ronald (Ellen) Partee of Ocala, FL; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed but always held close in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
