James Peter Bishop

James Peter Bishop of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the age of 83. Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Joy (Engelsman) Bishop, of 56 years; son, Brian James Bishop and Brian’s spouse, Kimberly Dillon Bishop of Belmont, California, and two grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Peter Cornelius Bishop and Jenevieve Bishop of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and his brothers, Calvin (Leone) Bishop and Richard (Marjorie) Bishop.

Jim was a graduate of Western Michigan University in Accounting following three years of military service. He was active on the Board of Directors of Small Business Association of Michigan, involved with Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and on the Boards of Directors of Meritage Hospitality Group and the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre. He was a car guy, a boat guy, could fix anything, and delighted in making people laugh. We will miss the twinkle in his eye and the smile that meant he was planning some sort of shenanigans.

Visitation will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Home Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9^th St, Kalamazoo, on Thursday, February 29^th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and a memorial service at Haven Church, 5350 N. Sprinkle Road, Kalamazoo, MI on Friday, March 1st, at 11:00 am with gathering at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Haven Reformed Church, Wounded Warrior Project, or a service group of your preference.
