James H. Bacon, age 76 of Richland, entered eternity with his Lord on January 27, 2024. He was born August 11, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Robert and Lydia (Gergely) Bacon. Jim grew up in the Detroit suburbs. He worked at Bob’s Auto Glass for many years, until losing his eyesight in an accident. Jim still enjoyed woodworking, doing home maintenance around the house, and caring for his lawn. While attending the Commission for the Blind, he met Ruth DeVisser. They were married on June 3, 1978. They had twin boys, David & Michael, and Jim was home with them while they grew up. Ruth and Jim attended Haven Reformed Church. He enjoyed working on his wood lathe and being outside fishing.
His family includes his wife, Ruth Bacon; his children: April Mitchell (Robert Hanna), Lydia Maynard (Robert), David Bacon (Amy Carpenter), Michael Bacon (Rebecca); his grandchildren: Ashley, Alex, Christina, Matthew, Danny, Kyle, Osbourne, Stormie, and Josue; several great-grandchildren; his brothers and sisters: Robert Bacon, Margaret Martin, Theodore Bacon, and Julie Jewell; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Sandy Bacon, and his brother Anthony (Mary) Bacon, and his sisters Lydia Garcia and Alice Remily.
Friends may visit with his family on Thursday, February 1st, 2024, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI, 49009. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 2nd, 2024, at the funeral home at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim may be made to SHALOM, INC.
