Jacqueline Tafoya

November 21, 1944 — January 4, 2023

Jacqueline Tafoya passed away on December 31, 2022.

Jacqueline served as a high school librarian for more than 30 years. She earned both a BA and MSL from Western Michigan University. She retired from Harper Creek High School in Battle Creek.

She had a rare talent of encouraging the youth that normally wouldn’t read, to pick up a book. After retirement, she took classes in fine art and spent her time painting. She was a participant in three of the Kalamazoo Art Hops, the latest being at the Kalamazoo State Theatre in June 2022. She was featured in Encore Magazine that very same month.

She was the daughter of Betty Jane Miles (Shields) and was raised by her loving grandmother, Kitty Clyde Shields.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Dorian Ross. She is also survived by her three daughters, Lora Branson (Steven Amsbury), Amy MacDonald (Cory Shank), and Mikelyn MacDonald; and seven grandchildren Alexander MacDonald, Cameron Branson, Haley Lockwood, Evan Bennet, Grace MacDonald, Baxter Banghart, and Anders Banghart.
