Jack was born to his parents Clyde Lorhberg and Jewel (Graham) Lohrberg on August 20, 1927 at his grandparents’ home in Otsego, Michigan. Jack attended Washington Elementary and Junior High, graduating from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1945.
Jack received his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan College of Education in 1949 and did graduate work at both the University of Michigan and New York University. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jack went on to teach history for 20 years at Mount Clemens High School, New York University in Manhattan and Wagner College on Staten Island, New York. He retired in 1992 from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York after 15 years of service.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Jewel Lohrberg, sisters Maxine Lester and Beverly Lawler and her husband Arthur Lawler. He is survived by nieces and nephews, David (Lynne) Lawler of The Woodlands, Texas, Kathy (Mitch) Lewis of Philadelphia, Sharon Champion of Kalamazoo and New Port Richey, Florida and Gayle Bernard of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and was great uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
A private burial with military honors will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
